Ghost Rider (2007)
What a horrid movie. I can't believe Nicholas Cage would tarnish his professional reputation by taking part in this travesty of a movie. I guess this is living proof that not all cartoons should become movies. I think my mind is permanently scarred.

Pulp Fiction (1994)
Ever since it came out, I've been hearing/reading nothing but hype about this movie. Yet, I never saw it until this weekend. Frankly, after seeing it, I don't see what all the hubbub is about. It was a good movie, don't get me wrong, but I not gonna remember it as one of the all time greats. As far as Tarantino goes, I think the Kill Bill's were leaps and bounds better.

It's a Boy Girl Thing (2006)
Yet another incarnation of the boy/girl swaps bodies theme. If only it could happen for real. I'd LOVE to be a chick for a day! And I guess if I was to be a chick for a day, looking like Samaire Armstrong wouldn't be bad at all! Anyway, about the movie. While it's an old recipe adn filled with cliches, it still came off pretty decenet. Obviously aimed at teen girls, it still didn't completely fail to appeal to me. I thought it was okay!

Other things done this weekend: Went to a graduation party, went to The Home Depot, painted my living room, mowed the lawn, did laundry, cleaned house and some other random stuff.

The Holiday (2006)
I've been putting off watching this for a while. I figured it would be some cookie cutter romance flick. In a way I suppose maybe it is. To top it off, I was never a fan of Cameron Diaz.

I loved it, though!! What an adorable movie! The Killers even had a song in it.

This movie isn't just about romance and a happy ending (which we all know it will have). There are aspects of it that don't really "belong" in a rom/com, but yet they don't seem misplaced at all.

I think it's a funny movie too. Yeah, I really liked it, and I'm not afraid to admit it!

So I went to Onsted last night. Saw a blade (plow) for a lawn tractor advertised on Craigslist for $20. I figured for that price I'd pick it up and adapt it to my 4-wheeler. It's a beefy John Deere blade, and definitely worth $20! The primary intended use is to clear snow out of the driveway, but with it being such a heavy duty blade, it could easily be used to move dirt and whatever else.

First Snow (2006)
Jimmy's a flooring salesman. It's not his passion, though. Jukeboxes are. But that's really not the point. On the way back from a business venture, Jimmy needs his car fixed and stops at a garage in some small place in the desert. While his car is being worked on, he goes to see a fortune teller to kill some time. The fortune teller tells him some things, and then suddenly he freaks out and stops the session. He even refunds Jimmy his money. At first Jimmy doesn't appear too bothered by it, but then a couple of the things the fortune teller told him actually happen.... Now he wants to know what it is that scared the fortune teller. Maybe if he knows what's going to happen, he can change it?

Pretty cool movie, I though. Not awesome, but cool.

The Tease (K) and I went to see 28 Weeks Later last night.

28 Weeks Later (2007)
From what I'd read about this movie, I knew the US military would be involved in it. This gave me bad vibes. I think one of the things that made 28 DAYS Later what it is, is the lack of US characters. It's just a bunch of brits running for their lives. The moment I read about the US soldiers, I thought "oh no!". I figured where there's US soldiers, there's Hollywood gung-ho heroics. And sure enough, that's exactly what you get in 28 Weeks Later. There's about a total of 4 British English speaking characters in this movie.

With that in mind, though, it didn't toally ruin the fun. This movie had a couple more "jump out of your seat" moments than the first one. This much due to the larger volume of (and more focus on) "infected". Overall it didn't have that overhanging feeling of "fear", though. I guess that's partially because this movie had a lot of uninfected people in it, while 28DL had a handful of people and a crap load of "infected". In this movie you were left waiting for the next normal person to jump out of the dark, instead of the next "infected".

Oh, and then there's the persistant father that just won't go away.

While 28 Days Later impressed me, and still leaves me thinking "wow", 28 Weeks Later will quickly fade from memory. It just didn't make much of a lasting impression. Entertaining while you're watching it, but not good enough to stick with you.

While the door was left wide open for 28 Months Later, I really hope it doesn't come to that.

A new hire started at work today. I've been complaining for ages that everybody they hire are 50+ years old, and that it's about time we get some "young" people in. HR finally listened to me! The new employee is 34 years old! Wohoo! Finally someone I might have something in common with!

Of course last time that department hired a 30-something, she lasted all of 2 days or so.

We'll see.....

Well, I went to look at those two cars on Friday. They were both sold by the time I got there. :o(

Took some pics while driving down I-94, though:

And another one I took a couple days earlier:

Took this pic yesterday. Some guy managed to get stuck in the ditch by the store right up the road from me. Not sure if he didn't see the ditch or what, but with one wheel mostly in the air, he wasn't going anywhere. Some guy in a truck finally pulled him out. I was just glad it wasn't me stuck in the ditch for once!

Van Helsing (2004)
The best vampire movie I've ever seen. Not that that's saying a lot, 'cause I rarely watch vampire movies. I loved the lighthearted humor in this movie, though. Like a James Bond set in Transylvania. Pretty cool movie.

When Do We Eat? (2005)
Dysfunctional family turns functional. Not a whole lot to say about this, really, other than there's a couple hotties in it.

London To Brighton (2006)
As should be pretty obvious by its title, it's a British movie.

The movie spans a few days, in which a hooker (Kelly) and a runaway girl (Joanne) get in trouble when a "job" goes wrong. This causes them to go on the run, being chased by the bad guys and the even worse guys. They flee from London to Brighton (duh!), thinking they'll be safe. But they're not.

The girl that played Joanne did a great job. Her emotions look incredibly real throughout the whole movie. As for the entertainment factor, I give it a good rating.. It kept me watching intently.

Only 20 lbs more now!

Benched 280 lbs last night. No assistance from my spotter. 2 reps. :o)

I've found a couple Dodge Intrepids within reasonable driving distance that I'm planning on checking out today/tonight. Hopefully they're not sold. I called on one of them already, and the person on the other end (a young girl) told me they don't speak very good English. Well, neither do I, I guess, but what's the point of advertising a car for sale with a phone number if they can't understand any English?

So I was listening to some Muse last night when it hit me.

Muse and The Killers have a similar philosophy. Both bands mix classic rock with more modern synthesizer, and the end results are pretty cool. I guess that explains why they both appeal to me.

I was eyeing my yard yesterday and came to the realization that I've done some good work. It used to look like a jungle, but I've put quite a bit of effort into it the last couple years, and it's paying off. My ex used to be responsible for the flower beds and such, which meant that they were overgrown and ignored. I guess I have a greener thumb than she does. I have some more plans for my yard too, so it's gonna get even better!

Hi Tom! :o)

So now that I've owned the Hoover Mach 5 for a while and used it a few times, I guess it's time for a follow up.

It still sucks my socks off! I continue to be amazed at the amount of crap it sucks up every time I use it. It's not that the amount is huge or anything like that.. I don't live in a pig sty! It's just that since I've vacuumed a few times now and gotten all kinds of junk out of my carpets, you'd think it would come out with only some dog hairs and such after a while. No! Every time there's enough "sand" for a small beach! A very small one, that is. There are of course plenty of dog hairs too.. Thanks Turbo!

If I had to complain about something, it would be the "powered" brush adapter. It's "powered" by the air passing through it, so it's not all that powerful. The brush stops easily. I still use it to clean my staircase, though. Sure beats lugging the whole vacuum cleaner along. Which brings me to my other gripe. It's a fairly heavy unit. It makes up for it by having a very convenient carrying handle, though.

Anyone want a Dirt Devil upright? I don't seem to have a use for mine anymore.

More movies..

Epic Movie (2007)
Only watched about 1 minute of this movie and decided it wasn't funny, so I spared myself from watching the rest.

The Good Shepherd (2006)
Long movie. About CIA operations and such over a 30 year time frame. Too much flip-flopping back and forth in time, and not enough stuff to keep me interested. About half way through the movie I gave up and skipped the rest.

Sunday May 6th 2007

A couple weeks ago I bench pressed 275 lbs, but I felt my spotter was being a little too helpful. So today I tried it again, did 2 reps with no spotter intervention at all (he was there, just never touched the bar). So it's official, 275 lbs! 25 more lbs to my goal of 300 lbs.

Wrong until you make it right
And I won't forget you
At least I'll try
